Playing off of the reading from Tricia Rose, I wanted to share a video that dives into deconstructive/reconstructive sampling as well as touching up on current DJ software and technology. This is also an excellent example of beat juggling and trick-mixing.

Back in the day, DJs were restricted to using physical records limiting their music collection dramatically. With the music industry moving from analog to digital, there has been many technological advances in DJing. Cutso, a member of Bay Area's the Finger Bangerz (now the Bangerz), DJs for the reknown Jabawockeez, shows us how to hold it down with Serato or vinyl emulation software. Cutso explains in the video that he put together a raw beat in Ableton Live (beat making software) by using an Akai MPD32 (midi controller) and exports it to Serato which allows him to use physical turntables to mix and scratch digital tracks. Being a live mix, it is a bit raw at first, but when it comes together I hear potential for a solid remix. Do you all agree that this meets the criteria for music as discussed in lecture? (Rhythm, melody, harmony) I know I do!
